Lucy J. Chamberlain Diaries 1915-1922

Lucy Jefferies Chamberlain received a Ph.D. from New York University in 1932. In 1928 she became a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at New York University. Chamberlain assumed administrative duties as Chairman of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology from 1948 to 1958. The Lucy Jefferies Chamberlain Diaries document three different periods in her early life. The first two cover the periods March 1915 to July 1916 and August 1916 to February 1918 respectively. The third is an account of her first experience as a lone worker in a rural community, written while she served as executive secretary of the Lafayette County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Darlington, Wisconsin.
